Master-ful

Ever since the failure in Brisbane, i've been practicing for more than 2 months to perfect my version of this recipe.

YEAH! now i dare declare myself as a MASTER in cooking pasta aglio e olio. Listen up Siang, you may cook better carbonara, but don't challenge me in this!!

so yeah lemme present my version:

Ingredients:

  • pasta of your choice (fettucine, linguine or angel hair spaghetti goes well)
  • olive oil
  • freshly minced garlic
  • freshly crushed black pepper
  • parsley flakes
  • red chilli flakes (optional but taste much better if added)
  • mushroom (optional)

Firstly, cook the pasta in lightly salted water, takes roughly 3-10mins depending on pasta type.

While waiting, prepare garlic and black pepper. I usually pan-fry some meat at the same time. Multitasking yo!

Then, when the pasta is gonna be ready, prepare the sauce immediately. Heat up some olive oil in a pan and throw in the garlic, black pepper and parsley (red chilli flakes and mushroom too). I can’t tell you how much oil I use cause the trick lies in the approximation. The amount should be just nice to coat the pasta, not too dry not too wet ngam ngam hou. That’s the way I like it. Those aglio olio I ate in Italian restaurants are soaked in oil. My friend said it’s because the olive oil is the sauce but too much oil just gross me out. So yeah after much trial and error, now I can agak-agak perfectly heh.

Ok then quickly drain the pasta. Shake the excess water, don't want your pasta to be soggy eh. When the garlic is starting to turn brown, throw in the pasta and turn to the lowest possible heat. Stir it in a rapid random movement. Toss it a bit if can. Like me.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

And Tadaa there you have it, a yummy-licious dish. Sprinkle some parmesan cheese and parsley onto.

It is really the simplest pasta recipe. Cooking this every other day. Takes bout 15-20mins, mainly to wait for pasta to cook. Do try it sometime people! Happy cooking =)

p/s: Bin it's really a hassle uploading all these pics. tell you why when i back. surely there is a better way which I don't know.

Crisis .

So yeah before i started this blog, i told myself: how nice to have a blog where you just write on everything that happened in your life and share it with anyone who cares.. BUT (there's always a but to everything eh) it's only the 2nd post and i'm having a hard time thinking bout what to write.. ya know, its something like during the exam period you make up a list of things-to-do-after-exam and when exam ends the plan never materialize. you get blank, empty and don't wanna do anything, just slack around and then welcome a new semester..

whats this blogging thing all about? how can someone earn money by blogging? and how could they get all those people reading in the 1st place? what's there that is so interesting to blog bout? or rather how to keep it interesting? blog for my readers or myself? and just when i'm sitting here scratching my head thinking bout what to write! bahh =/

anyway just went Docklands.. chanced upon this Boat Fest.. will post some pictures up after i find out how..
peace out ciao

OH YEAH!

Oh yeah! First post!

So yeah, made a pact with KaiBin for each of us to start a blog when he got his MacBook months back. Since he started his, I've gotta keep my side of the promise eh? Plus he's gonna slaughter me if I don't. Anyway, guess this is gonna be a good way for my friends and family to keep in touch with my life in Melbourne.

Alright first post keep it short and simple. Gonna make dinner > porterhouse steak plus baked potato yums! oh and a bottle of Corona.. bliss

wonder how long this blog gonna last lol ciao
